Built in 1914, the Legend RVA is an apartment building in the Northside of Richmond offering contemporary, amenity rich, furnished one bedroom units.
It’s a rare Victorian Italianate four-plex in Barton Heights neighborhood.
Centrally located within minutes of downtown, Carytown, MCV, VCU, Scott’s Addition and Shockoe Bottom.
For the majority of its life, the property has been operated as an unfurnished apartment building.
According to a neighborhood elder, sometime in the 1940’s the residence served as a woman’s shelter.
And now, in its latest incarnation it’s a contemporary styled, furnished apartment community.
Plainly put, I wanted to create the living space of my dreams.
Style heavy, bold, amenity rich but practical. This project provided me the opportunity to have complete autonomy over every aspect of this product.
Apartment living has comprised most of my adult life. A fair portion of this time I’ve been a digital nomad. I’ve always wanted a tv in the kitchen, cool wall art, a fireplace, black out curtains in the bedroom, in-unit washer and dryer, speakers in every room, a monitor for my laptop, etc.
Well, all of these features and more are here, a part of the Legend Experience.

A regular guy – not some faceless corporate entity.
In 2015, I inherited this property. Having been vacant for close to 10 years the property had fallen into a state of complete and total disrepair; so much so that it was condemned by the city.
At the time, I was a software developer residing in Washington DC. Living a cultured, exciting, alcohol infused (sometimes oftentimes) lifestyle. Rather than allow the property, which has been in my family over 40 years to be sold to any one of the cadre of annoying, gluttonous real estate investors circling around like vultures- I decided to take on the rehabilitation effort on my own.
One of the rarest of occasions where ignorance proved to be a great ally.
I did have some construction experience but not nearly enough for such a comprehensive project. I acted as Real Estate Developer, General Contractor, Carpenter, Interior Decorator, Laborer, Web Developer, Marketer and all else in between.
After many years of blood, sweat, tears and many, many missteps, my vision has finally come to life. I am extremely excited to share it with you.
Thank you for considering us for your stay in Richmond. We sincerely look forward to sharing the Legend Experience with you!!
